Long time no Blog.....

After my parents left, Matt and I started on a huge project at our home. The yard. It's been a long time in the making and we have been planning this out for a while now, but it's finally underway! Almost done actually!! We've still got some more work to do on our front yard, but it'll come! Here are a few pictures of the set up and a few more of the finished product!

We started off with picking up all the giant rocks in our ground! You can't even imagine how many we picked up!! Ahhh!! It was never ending! Then Matt roto-tilled the entire yard three times through... and in some spots even more!

Our good friends Jordan and Breanna stopped by to visit, and Jordan showed Matt how to build the planter boxes. Later, we stained them.

The girls had to take a little break from helping.
The black stuff is tar, it helps prevent any breakdown of the wood as the dirt sits there for years to come.
Once we finished all of the planter boxes, we had Matt's dad come over and help with leveling out the ground. Once it was leveled we were able to lay each box down where we wanted. Then to add the irrigation, Duane made everything so simple. Now we have a drip system at each box. Very cool.

We brought in amended soil to fill the boxes, then started planting!! We planted: blueberries, squash, zucchini, carrots, corn, watermelon, cantaloupe, green grapes, purple grapes, green beans, snap peas and tomatoes! YUM!

And believe it or not, two weeks later we have baby plants! I was so proud of us!

Now to take care of them and teach them to grow up to be good producers! Ya!
